"Hello, my name is Kailyn. I’ve played soccer for 3 years on the Wilson girls travel team. I play left mid-field. I play the trumpet, I’m in two jazz bands, and I think I’m pretty good. I also like to run which lets my ideas run free too, then I write or draw on paper. On Wednesdays I have school then elementary jazz band. Then, I have an hour and a half to finish my homework, eat, and get ready for soccer practice. I come home around 8:30, then I take a shower and go to sleep, and sometimes I finish the homework that I didn’t finish."

ANDREW
Band (trombone), Chorus, Soccer, Wrestling
"To be in a variety of activities can provide so many benefits to our lives. We will experience more than one coach, teacher, or mentor that have different rules and expectations of us. These interactions will teach us how to be more adaptable to people and situations and have better social skills by interacting with our peers. TEAMWORK!"

KAITLYN
Band (clarinet), Chorus, Karate, Basketball, Swimming
"Kids need variety. Trying different activities helps them figure out what they're good at & what they enjoy. Some kids light up playing sports, others love art, music, or just being outdoors-and they won't know until they try. It also teaches them to be flexible. Life doesn't always go as planned and kids who are trying new things tend to handle change better. Variety builds different skills too-teamwork, creativity, problem solving-and all of it helps them be well rounded people."

DONALD
Band (Tuba), Karate, Soccer, 4-H, Lego Club, Chess Club
"I really like all the after-school things I do because during Lego Club, I get to build and make things. I like Chess Club because I get to think really hard. I like band because I get to make lots of music. I'm a first-degree brown belt in karate and learn how to protect myself. I like soccer because I get to run around and have fun. I like 4-H because I get to learn about animals."

CASSANDRA
Band (Trombone), Chorus, Tennis, Theater
"I’m actively involved in tennis, theater, and music, and I’ve found ways to thrive by staying organized and passionate about each activity. I’ve been playing tennis for a few years and am currently preparing for high school matches, constantly working on improving my strength, speed, and focus. In theater, I’ve performed in several productions since middle school, and I love how it lets me express myself and connect with others through storytelling. Music is another big part of my life - whether I’m singing or listening, it helps me stay grounded and energized. Balancing everything takes time management and dedication, but because I truly enjoy what I do, I’m able to keep pushing forward and growing in all areas."

TYLER
My name is Tyler Woolson, I’m a senior at Wilson and am involved in many activities
including varsity baseball, concert/jazz band, ensemble, and have participated in the seal of civic
readiness. Being involved in all of these activities, especially seeing how different they all are
from each other, has made me not only a well rounded student but a well rounded person.
Through these activities I find it easier to appreciate different things than most who aren't
involved in multiple activities at the same time, it genuinely gives you a new perspective on
things which is a skill that is absolutely necessary in every stage of life. It is challenging from
time to time trying to balance out my baseball life and my music life because the influences in
each group are completely different, but over the years I’ve mastered this art. I like the challenge
too, it makes me a better student. I can't imagine going through high school without being
involved in music and baseball, or without taking advantage of whatever other opportunities
present themselves, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
