REQUIREMENTS:    

• NYS Teaching Certification in Math 7-12 OR Completion of program requirements with pending NYS Teaching Certification in Math 7-12
• Proficiency with personal computer, Chromebooks and instructional equipment.
•  Background check and fingerprint clearance through Identogo/TEACH (New York State Education Department)
• Approval by the Wilson Board of Education

The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

1.    Broad experience with a variety of instructional techniques.
2.    Demonstrated ability to reach all types of learners.
3.    The ability and commitment to use technology as an instructional tool.
4.    Evidence of effective classroom management skills with age-appropriate experiences.
5.    Excellent communication skills; approachable, friendly and available.

POSITION STATUS:    Temporary, Long-term Substitute. Position anticipated for approximately 4-6 weeks

SALARY & BENEFITS:    Per Wilson Teachers’ Association (WTA) agreement

Substitute Teachers are needed (especially for the High School and Middle School)! Work is available on an "as needed" basis on days when school is in session to cover an absence.  Substitute teachers do not need to have a current NYS teaching certificate but must be able to pass a background check through Identogo/NYSED. Become a substitute teacher and impact the community of Wilson in a positive way! 

Competitive Pay
     Certified Teachers: $130 per full day / $65 per half day
     Uncertified Teachers: $110 per full day / $55 per half day

Hours Middle + High School
     Full Day: 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
     Half Day Morning: 7:30 am - 10:45 am
     Half Day Afternoon: 10:45 am - 2:30 pm

Hours Elementary School
     Full Day: 8:35 am - 3:35 pm
     Half Day Morning: 8:35 am - 12:00 noon
     Half Day Afternoon: 12:00 noon - 3:35 pm

After successfully completing an interview with one of our principals, you will receive new hire paperwork and fingerprint clearance information.  All substitute teaching applicants must pay for and complete fingerprinting through Identogo and receive clearance through the NYS Education Department (NYSED) prior to being recommended for approval by the Wilson Board of Education. The fee for fingerprinting is approximately $104, which is set by Identogo and is subject to change. 

Work is available on an "as needed" basis on days when school is in session to cover an absence. May work in conjunction with another school nurse. Will provide professional nursing services in the maintenance of acceptable health standards, school heath records, and emergency treatment of student and employee health issues; does related work as required. 

Rate of pay: $24/hour ($168 - $180/day)
Typical work hours: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm
Paid orientation and training provided.
Fingerprint clearance reimbursement ($102) after 5 days of service to the district.

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid RN license
• Able to pass a background check through Identogo/NYSED
• Able to follow District procedures and guidelines for health care and medications
• Able to understand and follow technical, oral, and written instructions
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Effective and calm in handling emergencies
• Strong work ethic
• Mental alertness and emotional stability
• Cheerful and patient
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
