He then transitioned to teaching in the Buffalo City School District, where he spent 12 years instructing 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades at School #81. Following that, Superintendent Carter served as the Assistant Principal at Buffalo Public School 28 (Triangle Academy), overseeing grades 5-8 for one year.
In the following years, he worked at Erie I BOCES as a staff development coordinator before taking on roles in the Niagara Wheatfield School District. There, he was an Assistant Principal at West Street for two years and Principal at Colonial Village for five years. For the five years prior to his current position, he was the Principal of Niagara Wheatfield High School.
Superintendent Carter’s career spans elementary, middle, and high school levels, and he has gained valuable experience in urban, suburban, and rural educational settings. He brings this wealth of experience to Wilson Central School District with a focus on creating a strong, supportive community for students and staff alike.
As Superintendent, Carter is deeply committed to educating the whole student. He believes that success in education extends beyond academics and involves nurturing each individual student’s talents while emphasizing the core values that contribute to success. He refers to these values as the “4 Pillars” of becoming a well-rounded and productive student:
-
Academic Success – Encouraging all students to do their best in school.
-
Respect – Promoting respect for oneself, peers, adults, and the greater community.
-
Responsibility – Holding students accountable for understanding and meeting expectations.
-
Empathy – Fostering the ability to understand and relate to the feelings and beliefs of others.
Through these guiding principles, Superintendent Carter remains committed to helping students at Wilson Central Schools grow both academically and personally, preparing them for success in the classroom and beyond.
