I received notification from TEACH that my registration is expiring - what does that mean?
All teachers are required to keep their TEACH (NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives) registration active. If you receive an email from TEACH that your TEACH registration is expiring, you need to follow the instructions on the email you have received.

- Educators will not send documentation of their CTLE clock hours to the Department for the re-registration process. However, their CTLE documentation must be available upon request by the Department.

Questions about the following topics can be emailed to OTI. Emails sent to OTI should include the educator’s full name as it appears in TEACH and either their date of birth or the last four digits of their Social Security Number, allowing OTI staff to access the educator’s TEACH account information.

Am I required to join the retirement system?
Depending on job classification, full-time employees are required to join either the New York State & Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) or the New York State Teachers' Retirement System (TRS). Part-time employees have the option to join the appropriate retirement system but may choose to decline.
